Bags vs rolls
Rolls let you cut each bag to the length you need; pre-cut bags skip that step. Most of the sealers we cover have built-in roll storage and a cutter.
FoodSaver rolls
FoodSaver's custom-length rolls are made for its sealers. The 5-roll multipack is made in the USA and BPA-free, and listed as safe for freezer, fridge, microwave and dishwasher, per the listing.

Chamber sealer pouches
If you use a chamber sealer, buy pouches made for it. Avid Armor's are listed for chamber and heat sealers only, not FoodSaver-type machines.

- Pre-cut pouches for chamber sealers and heat sealers only (not FoodSaver-type edge sealers), per the listing

Reusing bags: FoodSaver's rule
- OK to wash and reuse: bags that held fruit, vegetables, bread, dry goods and many desserts. Wash by hand or on the top rack, dry completely, then re-vacuum.
- Throw away: bags that held raw meat, fish, eggs or unpasteurized cheese, because they may hold bacteria that survive washing, and bags that held greasy or oily foods, which are hard to clean.
That rule comes from FoodSaver; we didn't find a USDA or Extension statement specifically about vacuum bag reuse.
